Ellenborough Park

In anticipation of the forth coming Cheltenham festival, Ellenborough Park hotel has featured the above piece as part of their website. To create the desired affect found in the painting, I built up layers of thin acrylic wash with brush strokes that follow the motion of the horse’s body. This work is a departure from my regular practice and I understand the use of photography is evident in the image, but this method allowed for a detailed representation of form, which was required as part of its placement.
